The reasons for the toothache pain may vary from a tooth decay to irritated nerve or gums inflammation. You need to see your dentist to check what is the root of the pain however meanwhile you might try to deal with the pain at home. The toothache pain is an inflammatory process that is affecting your teeth showing you that you need to pay attention to the condition of your teeth and also that your immune system is weak and the body cannot heal the cause of the problem. The following ways to deal with the pain could be used also as part of your prevention procedure and daily care for your teeth even in the periods when you don’t feel any pain.

Anti-bacterial rinse

Lots of bacteria are living in the mouth as they live on the remains of the food, so everyone has to clean the teeth and the mouth daily in order to avoid the over spreading of these bacteria. The mouthwash waters are often full of chemicals and in case of pain may not be very effective as they also contain alcohol which in some cases can increase the irritation and the pain. You can use the natural solutions of water to rinse your mouth made with salt, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda or propolis. Just choose one of them and dilute a little bit in water, then use it to rinse your mouth thoroughly. You can also do some oil pulling with coconut oil which will clean your mouth, will strengthen your teeth and could heal some first stage decays.

Anti-inflammatory foods

There are some foods in your kitchen that can help you with fighting the tooth pain. Basically, the alkaline diet that is full of raw fruits and vegetables is also anti-inflammatory,  however there are some foods which have very strong qualities to help you recover from any inflammatory process. You can add curcuma, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, chilli peppers to a  soup, salad, tea or eat them just like that. You need to avoid sugar and processed foods as they will increase the inflammation and are not good in cases of pain. The alcohol drinks are also not recommended if you have tooth pain as then your body has to deal with even more toxins.

Cold compress

In order to treat area of the pain itself, you can put several ice cubes in a plastic bag, then wrap them in a towel, then put them on the place of pain. The coldness will minimize the inflammation and will give some relief as the bacteria are not able to reproduce in the environment of low temperatures. On the other hand, for the same reason you need to avoid drinking or eating hot foods or liquids, also to reduce smoking because as a result the temperature will get higher and this will increase the inflammation even more.
