What can we do when a new infectious disease is around?

From time to time a new virus or bacteria finds a way to spread in human populations and cause diseases. Think about the outbreaks caused by the coronavirus group of viruses in 2003 (SARS), in 2012 (MERS) and now in 2019/2020 (COVID-19). And since all life forms evolve and change, including viruses and bacteria, new infectious diseases will continue to appear.

Immunity is a way in which our body is evolving too in order to keep up with ever-changing pathogens. The advantage of our ingenious immune system is that it can learn about new pathogens and memorise how to mount an effective and rapid defence against them.

Using vaccines we can artificially train our immune system to fight different pathogens in advance. But it takes many months and years to develop a vaccine. Other medications, such as antivirals, also take a lot of time to develop. However, normally they can only target specific viruses.

So what can we do when there is a real chance to catch a new infection - be it a new flu virus or the recent COVID-19 and there are no medications or vaccines yet available?

First of all, we can reduce the risk of infection, as recommended by official health organisations: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; avoid close contact with people who are sick; stay home when you are sick; and clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces.

Secondly, we can also increase the functional reserves of the body, so that when the immune system is in a battle with a new pathogen the body can endure the challenge with minimum discomfort and in the shortest time possible.

CoMra therapy is one technology that can be used both for preparing the body in advance against possible infection, as well as for treatment if one is already infected - and it is completely safe.

Let us take a closer look at this concept of immunity and functional reserves. Then we will share Treatment protocols for using coMra therapy.

Some theory first…

In order to function properly and contain viruses that spread in our body, the immune system requires vast amounts of energy.

If we take an average daily energy expenditure of a healthy adult as 100%, the energy cost of mild inflammation is about 25% and goes up to 60% in cases of severe immune challenge, such as sepsis (Straub 2017, doi: 10.1038/nrrheum.2017.172).

It is easy to notice this, because when we start to feel unwell typically the first response is a desire to rest, which is an immediate way to reduce energy expenditure. Since digestion also requires energy, we may experience a loss of appetite, while the body switches to internal resources. And finally, we may experience an overwhelming fatigue when energy deficit becomes very serious in an advanced stage of a disease.

If the body has enough reserves to tackle the infection all goes well and we may have only mild symptoms, if any. But the situation may deteriorate rapidly if the body is already weakened by other chronic diseases or old age, lack of sleep and rest, extreme emotional stress and other energy depleting activities.

Therefore, it should not be surprising that the World Health Organisation, as of today, states that although “people of all ages can be infected by the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus”.

To sustain an activated immune function for many days and even weeks is a major challenge when the body is already depleted. It is not that the immune system has lost its immune learning and defensive abilities, but rather that it lacks sufficient reserves to sustain itself while it is fighting such a pathogen.

coMra therapy for a strong immune system

The coMra therapy is a non-invasive and safe technology that combines several physical radiances in order to increase the efficiency of the natural functions of the body, including the immune defences.

Watch this brief video for a general overview:

There are different coMra devices available but here, for the purposes of this article, we will refer to the coMra Palm device that uses three radiances:

  • Infrared laser,
  • Magnetic field and
  • Colour LEDs: red, indigo/violet, yellow-green.

These radiances are low-intensity, so that they cannot damage cells. Instead they collectively increase the efficiency of cellular and organ functions in terms of energy supply and neuroendocrine regulation.

In other words, coMra therapy is not targeted at destroying a specific virus or bacteria, but rather at building the various functions of the body for self-repair and self-defence.

During our 10 year clinical experience with coMra therapy we have observed that timely treatments with coMra devices reduces the duration of normal colds and flu by at least 40-50%. The severity of symptoms such as headaches, fever, fatigue, runny nose is also significantly reduced. We found out home users of coMra devices also have a markedly reduced need for medication (if any) to control those symptoms. And when coMra therapy is also applied preventatively, in advance, before seasonal outbreaks, whole families go through these times with very minimum down time.

PRACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COLDS, FLU, CORONAVIRUS DISEASE

Below are custom coMra programs compiled for colds, flu, coronavirus disease. These programs use combinations of existing treatments as published in the current coMra therapy User Guide Revision 4.1, available online as well as in PDF format, or alternatively as an APP for Apple iOS and Android. Note that when the combined treatments have overlapping points, do these points only once.

All safety rules and precautions apply as outlined in the “BEFORE YOU START” section of the coMra therapy User Guide.

First of all, we recommend doing a preventative coMra therapy program BEFORE an infection happens, if there is a risk of infection. It is the best approach to prepare the immune system for contact with a virus that is new to your body.

Immune support 1

Preventative program for an individual without chronic diseases and below 50 years old.

  • Universal 2
  • Universal 3

Do this treatments once daily for 12 days.

Immune support 2

Preventative program for an individual with chronic diseases, over 50 years old, with high risk of infection.

  • Universal 2
  • Universal 6

Do this treatments once daily for 12 days.

Note that the immune system’s functional reserves will start increasing after the first 2-3 days of treatments and will peak by the 6th-9th day of the preventative program. The elevated immune status will persist for another 10-14 days and will gradually start to decrease during the next 14-60 days. This means that generally speaking one preventative program is sufficient for about 3 months.

If you start to feel unwell and experience the first signs of an infection, such as fever, cough, sore throat start the following program as soon as possible. This is the most critical time when your immune system goes from a “dormant” state to full activation. To minimise the spread of infection spread within a family, follow the coMra device cleaning guidelines, but we also recommended having an individual Palm device for a family member who shows symptoms of infection, while other family members without symptoms should use another device.

Immune support 3

Treatment program for common colds, flu, coronavirus disease.

  • Universal 3, done every 4 hours except during sleep time
  • Universal 2, done once a day
  • In case of headache add Universal 1, done 1-2 a day
  • In case of respiratory symptoms add Pulmonology 1, done 1-2 times a day
  • In case of runny nose add Otorhinolaryngology 1, done 1-2 times a day
  • In case of sore throat add Otorhinolaryngology 8, done 1-2 times a day

Do this treatments until your condition significantly improves. Then continue with Immune support 1 for another 1 week.
